FACE OF ADOCA HOME

Our story into the world of ADVOCACY & DEEP RESEARCH started with one of our Angels by name of Sukurat Opeyemi Bibiire AKA ABEKEOLAMI
A name given to her by the Founder of the Home to let Caregivers understand how to help the little cute baby manage the rigorous pains caused by the birth defect she was challenged with.

WHO IS ABEKEOLA MI?
SHE IS THE FACE OF ADOCA HOME!!
WHAT MADE HER THE FACE OF ADOCA HOME?

I never thought someone could be referred to as FACE OF ADOCA HOME until fate brought us together.
I admitted her into the home in late October 2014. She was 1 year and 2 months which made her the youngest child, I ever admitted into the home.

Though she was 14 months then, she looked like a well-fed 4-month-old baby. It was Her mother and Uncle who brought her, as her father refused to have her under his roof at that period. He claimed not to know where his wife brought such an alien child from: (Abekeola-mi and others are not aliens, they are humans with special needs).

She is indeed a special kid!! She couldn’t eat, she couldn’t sit or crawl, totally not aware of her environment nor to respond to anything around her. Since her admission to the home, until she was 4 years old, she had these disturbing cries late in the night till early morning. she would start crying from 11 pm till 5 am daily. I named her AbekeOla mi as a pet name to pamper her as she normally reduced the tone of her cry when she’s carried & danced.
She is totally under ADOCAH’s care and custody. It was never an easy task to care for her…

She was challenged with Asphyxia stage 3 (HIE: HYPOXIC ISCHEMIC ENCEPHALOPATHY). which affects her developmental growth and brain functions.
Research says 75% of babies challenged with HIE will die before their 18th month and the remaining 25% useless.
Oooh, I felt so confused and sad thinking deeply about her predicament. Does this mean she will expire before or by her 18th month?

Fortunately, she lived beyond 18 months, though with serious complications she overcame. When she was 3 years old, the idea of making her the FACE OF ADOCA HOME came to mind and through this idea we did a program that lasted over six months lecturing communities on CAUSES & PREVENTION OF BIRTH DEFECTS: ASPHYXIA AS CASE STUDY. To us, as our lectures spread forth and prevent many mothers from giving birth to babies with birth defects and how to care for them whilst parents most especially mothers keep their Sanity.
To the Glory of God, AbekeOlaMi is not useless, In August 2024 she will be 11 years old by God’s Grace and because of her we have spread the news about causes & preventions to over a thousand people, she is better than she used to be.

Conclusively, we have got lots of testimonial facts in our years of Service.
We have Omokejimi Apekeola who was admitted at age 2& half years and totally dependent vulnerable child challenged with meningitis and spasms.
She could talk, walk nor do many basics aside barely feeding herself roughly.
This year, she will be 16 years old. She can talk, walk, support other persons in the home, she is school and will be sitting for Common Entrance this year.
She is totally under ADOCA HOME CARE.
